FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What do you like…do?
I am a professional photographer that currently specializes in music, lifestyle, and commercial photography for bands, brands, publications, and individuals. I also accept a limited number of graphic design projects and social media endorsement partnerships depending on the brand and scope of the project. I am not currently photographing births, maternity portraits, or weddings.
What are your rates?
You can download my rate sheet for personal photography here and commercial photography here. I also work with clients on creative projects of all sizes. To request a tailored quote for your brand, please contact me here.
Where are you located? Can you travel?
I am currently based out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana but I am definitely willing to travel! I shoot on location and can be flexible. Opportunities outside of the Baton Rouge area may result in additional fees for travel.
Did you go to school for photography?
I graduated from Louisiana State University in 2014 with a BFA in Studio Art with my concentration in Photography and my minor in Art History.
How would you describe your style?
My style is very spontaneous, colorful and playful. When you hire me, you are handing over the reins to visually translate your identity with my creative eye. I want to make you content that enhances your style and emphasizes your brand with something visually exciting. My work might not be the best fit for everybody, and that’s okay! Please look through my website to make sure our styles mesh before reaching out for a quote. What you see here is going to be very similar to what you get! If we don't make a good fit I am happy to refer you to another amazing photographer.
What is “Do what you want?”
A few years ago I started saying “do what you want” and using it as a mantra for my creative endeavors. It has turned into a sort of sub-brand for my business, the Do What You Want Club, which encompasses online workshops, a podcast, and merchandise.
When should I book?
It is advised to contact me for booking availability 3-6 weeks in advance. I do not typically book more than 6 weeks in advance, unless it is during my peak seasons (Spring and Fall.)
Can I have your RAW files?
NOPE. Trusting that a photographer will edit the images to their artistic discretion is part of why you are paying them for their services. There are very slim exceptions for this.
What gear do you shoot with?
My main camera body is a Nikon D750 and my backup body is a Nikon D700. I use a variety of Sigma and Nikon lenses which are linked below and the Adobe Creative Suite for editing. I have a Nikon Speed Light SB-700 flash for events, a ring light for inside portrait shoots, and available light for everything else.
Favorite lenses that I most commonly use:
Do you have a studio?
No I do not currently have a studio. I shoot everything on location, podcast remotely, and work on design jobs from home. I specialize in photographing with available light in urban environments and do not typically use artificial lighting.
Can I hire you to shoot my wedding?
Nope! I am not currently booking weddings. But I can refer you to some other amazing wedding photographers. Just shoot me an email- I have a list ready!
Can I hire you to shoot my band?
Yep! I love photographing music and musicians, let's do it.
Can I hire you to shoot my event?
Reach out to me with details about your event and a timeline and I will get back to you with a tailored quote. I am not currently photographing births, maternity, or weddings.
What should I bring to my personal portrait session?
Besides yourself- nothing! My style of shooting is fun, playful, and natural. I want to capture your true colors, so please leave the crazy props you saw on Pinterest at home!
What should I wear for my portraits?
Literally whatever you want! These are going to be your photos. I usually advise against turtlenecks, busy small prints like gingham/houndstooth, and anything that makes you feel uncomfortable. Solid colors are usually a safe choice if you’re going for something more timeless.
Can I bring so-and-so to my personal portrait session?
I am all about social interaction! You are free to bring anyone you want to your shoot. However, try to bring people that will positively affect your attitude, because it will show in your photos! Bring a friend if they will make you laugh! Don't bring your mom if she is going to nag you the whole time about the dress she doesn’t like that you are wearing. I would not recommend bringing more than 2 people to your shoot, as it slows down the photographing process. If you'd like to bring a pet to your session, that's totally fine! But please bring someone else to watch/hold the pet while we are not photographing them.
How long until I get my photos?
You will receive a link to a digital proofing gallery of enhanced images within 2 weeks from your shoot date unless specified otherwise.
Do I get the high resolution photos?
Depending on the shoot, yes. Personal photography sessions with me include usage rights for high resolution images to be used for personal printing and social media posting. Businesses seeking to use images for marketing purposes during a commercial shoot will have licensing fees depending on intended usage (which will be discussed in our initial quote conversation.)
Do you use affiliate links on your website?
Yes. Disclosure: Please note that some of the links on my website and social media platforms are affiliate links, and at no additional cost to you, I will earn a commission if you decide to make a purchase after clicking through the link. Please understand that I only post and review products that I believe in and recommend because they are helpful and useful, not because of the small commissions I make if you decide to buy something through my links. All opinions are my own.
