My Chromatic Home | Apartment Tour by Jordan Hefler

My Chromatic Home | Apartment Tour with Jordan Hefler

Alright alright alright, I've been meaning to do a blog post on my home for a while but truth be told- I never felt completely moved in. UNTIL this week, when the local newspaper asked to come do a feature of my decor through hearing about it from a friend and seeing some images on my Instagram of the place. This forced me to get my life together and finally finish getting everything in order- AND CLEANED!

While I had the place as clean as it'll ever be, I figured I'd finally get some photos of it and do a blog post on it as well as an IGTV home tour too (you can see that on my page here.)

So here's the lowdown! I moved to the Garden District in Baton Rouge a little over a year ago, and I absolutely love the area. I have always lived very close to the LSU area for the past 8 years that I've lived in Baton Rouge, but never felt like I was really in a community outside of college life, until this past year living in Mid-City. I finally live alone, which is what I've always wanted because I never had an opportunity to decorate more than a bedroom in my entire life! Now that I live in my own apartment, I am free to decorate all corners of the house and make it an atmosphere I'm really passionate about.

I live in a verrrrry old building (most of this area is pretty historic! The Garden District is the oldest subdivision in Baton Rouge!) and my landlords said that the building is at least 75 years years old. This makes it charming, but also brings on a lot of issues. In the past year that I've lived here, I've had rainwater come down through the fireplace, the AC go out Fourth of July week, then the heater go out New Years week, the dryer go out, the ceiling leak water (twice), a dead rat in my laundry room, animals living in my bathroom ceiling, AND my fair share of cockroaches. LOL. The fridge barely works, I have water stains on the ceiling, and my bathroom doesn't have a light switch BUT the rent price, nice landlords and location make it all worth it, though :) And I'm really not high maintenance! As long as I can decorate the place I make it work!

The Commerce Building / Event by Jordan Hefler

I don't get excited about my event photography very often... but this event was one for the books.

As you all know (or may not know) I am currently the graphic designer/social media manager at Manship Theatre in downtown Baton Rouge. It's a fun job, and sometimes there are really cool perks such as going down the street to tour the bomb new penthouse apartments with a rooftop pool, just because they want to cross promote social media marketing with you. My boss John and I took a little marketing trip down the street to the newly renovated Commerce Building to discuss some potential collaborative aspects between our theatre and their prospective residents. For someone who lives in a condo with their brother deep in the college apartment side of town, this place was like visiting New York for the first time (or what I would expect... I've never actually been to New York. BUT I'VE SEEN IT ON GOSSIP GIRL OK!) I casually posted a photo from the rooftop on my Instagram because I thought it was GORGEOUS. A few days later I got a call from the event planner that they'd like to hire me to photograph their launch party! You can't tell me that social media networking is not real. It can be so important for a business, and this is a prime example of how it can work to your advantage. These are also the benefits of being a freelance photographer after getting off of a full time job at 5PM, since the event started at 6PM and it was just down the street. HA!

The party mainly took place on the epic rooftop terrace, but they were doing large group tours of the empty 8th floor penthouse suite, and a super hip riverfront unit on the 6th floor, furnished/designed by Kenneth Brown. I bounced around between the 1st, 6th, 8th, and rooftop floors, photographing what I saw throughout the night. This was probably the most attractive event I've ever attended, much less photographed, and it made my job oh so easy. The big treat was seeing the pool light up purple at the end of the night, but that's just my opinion since I'm essentially 7 years old.

Well this has probably been the most photogenic event of all time #JordanHeflerPhotography #CBLDG

If you are looking for an apartment in the Baton Rouge area, or the downtown area specifically, TAKE A TOUR OF THESE. For real. They're beautiful, and conveniently located right on top of the baller new Matherne's Market and the soon to be opened 2nd location of Magpie Cafe! And then when you sign a lease you can invite me to come over and tan on the roof with you, since I'll probably still be holdin it down with my brother in our mediocre condo.

Step right in!! 💦💦💦 #CBLDG #theartoflivingdowntown #rooftopvibes #infinitypool #batonrouge #louisiana 📷cred @jordan.hefler
