HELLO FRIENDS. I HAVE SOME VERY IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS TO MAKE.
This blog post is sort of like my megaphone to the world (and trust me, I was a cheerleader so I have extensive experience with a megaphone)
As of September 1st 2016, I will be focusing on my photography business FULL TIME!
Some of you may or may not know, but I've been working full time for the past two years while doing freelance photography/design/social media on the side. WELL NOT NO MO. I will only be doing design work for Manship Theatre one day a week starting in September, and I have a few other freelance design/social media gigs in the works (trust me they're gonna be good... can't wait to actually announce those things when I'm able to!) Other than that, my life will be 100% dedicated to pursuing photography! WOO!
NO MORE VACATION DAYS TO SHOOT CONCERTS!
NO MORE BUSINESS CASUAL!
I CAN DO WHATEVER I WANT WHENEVER I WANT!
IT'S GONNA BE GR8!
I have been running myself ragged trying to do too many things at once and there's honestly just not enough time in the day. I LOVE my full time job and everyone I work with, but it's a matter of bettering my health at this point... I've been so stressed I swear that's what's been giving me so many back problems. And on that note, I'll give you a short synopsis of my back issues of late:
I've had bad back problems forever, but a few months ago I started noticing that my right arm and hand kept going numb. After going round and round with doctors appointments and an MRI, it was discovered that I had a herniated disc in my neck. After going round and round some more with that and getting an epidural shot in my neck, things weren't better so we scheduled another one. After that one my nerve got pinched even more due to the medication from the shot getting too close to the nerve and putting pressure from the disc onto the nerve. I had extreme, painful sensitivity in my hand for about a week. After an additional MRI and some medication, that's gotten better, but we still don't really know where to go from here because the slipped disc is not going away anytime soon. The moral of the story is that I'm always in pain, but I'm not going to let that ruin my career. Which is why I need time to myself to not be running around all of the time trying to make ends meet doing too many jobs. So now I should have more time to let myself heal.
I know a lot of people have been asking me about that and wondering how I've been doing, so there you go. NOW FOR THE REALLY EXCITING NEWS!
I am announcing the launch of my NEW VERY OWN BLOG, GROOVE SLANG!
Groove Slang is my baby. It's all the stuff that's been inside my head for so long that never had any place to live. It's something I can watch grow from scratch. It's a brand that represents everything I'm excited about in life. It's a publication for me to cover concerts on behalf of... well, myself. It's where I can ramble on about how awesome my new rug is, or where I can talk about how cool that jumpsuit that Jimi Hendrix wore that one time was. I've had tons of blogs in the past, but they were never really serious. This is going to be my fun, inspirational outlet. Honestly if nobody ever reads it I'll be totally fine because it will make ME happy.
www.jordanhefler.com has seen immense growth through the years, and I am so excited about that! But I feel very passionately about keeping this website photography oriented. Where else can I post about how cool my vintage clowns are? I'M GONNA BE A BLOGGER MA. GROOVE SLANG IS THE PLACE.
I'm hoping to grow this into a full blown lifestyle blog with advertising opportunities and legitimate press credentials. One day, it may have multiple people on the team or turn into a magazine. It's going to be so much fun. If you like anything that I have done on this site or anything that I post on my instagram, you'll probably like Groove Slang.
SO GO CHECK IT OUT NOW! Give the socials some love because they're brand spankin' new and feeling pretty lonely. More content is coming to both this site and there soon, FOR SURE! Stay tuned :)
