Alright alright alright, I've been meaning to do a blog post on my home for a while but truth be told- I never felt completely moved in. UNTIL this week, when the local newspaper asked to come do a feature of my decor through hearing about it from a friend and seeing some images on my Instagram of the place. This forced me to get my life together and finally finish getting everything in order- AND CLEANED!
While I had the place as clean as it'll ever be, I figured I'd finally get some photos of it and do a blog post on it as well as an IGTV home tour too (you can see that on my page here.)
So here's the lowdown! I moved to the Garden District in Baton Rouge a little over a year ago, and I absolutely love the area. I have always lived very close to the LSU area for the past 8 years that I've lived in Baton Rouge, but never felt like I was really in a community outside of college life, until this past year living in Mid-City. I finally live alone, which is what I've always wanted because I never had an opportunity to decorate more than a bedroom in my entire life! Now that I live in my own apartment, I am free to decorate all corners of the house and make it an atmosphere I'm really passionate about.
I live in a verrrrry old building (most of this area is pretty historic! The Garden District is the oldest subdivision in Baton Rouge!) and my landlords said that the building is at least 75 years years old. This makes it charming, but also brings on a lot of issues. In the past year that I've lived here, I've had rainwater come down through the fireplace, the AC go out Fourth of July week, then the heater go out New Years week, the dryer go out, the ceiling leak water (twice), a dead rat in my laundry room, animals living in my bathroom ceiling, AND my fair share of cockroaches. LOL. The fridge barely works, I have water stains on the ceiling, and my bathroom doesn't have a light switch BUT the rent price, nice landlords and location make it all worth it, though :) And I'm really not high maintenance! As long as I can decorate the place I make it work!
You can see more and learn about my many DIY projects for the place in my IGTV video here! For now, photos of #MyChromaticHome are below. I'll try to link some of the prominent things in between the images, and will definitely link to the newspaper feature whenever it comes out!
