HELLO again! I've been a photo takin machine lately so this blog has been slackin. If anyone even reads this and cares, I am truly sorry. I've been wanting to share these bridal portraits I took of my best friend for a while, but I had to wait until she actually got married so I wouldn't spoil the surprise of her dress! Her wedding was last weekend and it was gorgeous.
My last blog post was about Erin's amazing Friends Themed Bridal Shower, and I talked a little bit about how I am not interested in booking weddings... but I would LOVE to book more bridal portraits before the big day! I photographed Erin's bridals mostly because we are great friends and I wanted to have some small part in capturing her big day (Kristen Soileau Portraits covered her wedding, and I am SO pumped to see her shots. I'm sure she did an amazing job. Weddings are truly her jam!) Me shooting her portraits was supposed to be her wedding gift and she ended up paying me anyways *rolls eyes* but I am so happy with how they turned out! It's obvious Erin is super easy to photograph because she's hot to trot but she's also a photographer's dream because she is so CHILL. 99% of why I don't want to shoot weddings is because people are anything but chill on their wedding day. Erin is so unbelievably laid back, and shooting her was basically just like hanging out with her...which we have done a lot of in the past 10 years.
We photographed most of her portraits at the bed and breakfast in Saint Martinsville, Louisiana where she got married about a month before her wedding (we did the second half of the session in downtown Breaux Bridge, Louisiana.) The venue is legitimately in Cajunville USA and basically in the swamp. We shot these in mid-October and it was hella humid and sticky. The grounds of the bed and breakfast were heavily affected by the flooding that happened during the summer, so it was super mushy and bug-ridden, but Erin acted like she didn't care at all that she was in a ginormous dress traipsing through the marsh. The tulle of her dress made for a great mosquito catching net, and at one point a snake even slithered by the bottom of her dress and we were like YEEHAW LOOZIANA. I think my favorite part of the day was when Erin forgot to get a bouquet situated for her photos, and called me asking to casually stop at Whole Foods in Lafayette to buy some fresh flowers. We later went to Wal Mart to get some more to mix in with them, and in the pictures she's basically just holding a bundle of flowers from Wal Mart tied together with a rubber band. But you know what? It looks bomb (sorry to all the wonderful florists out there... we hacked your system.) We even got Mexican food and margs before we did the shoot. Her brother Robbie came to assist us and it was a grand ole time. It was like we were 16 again and hanging out, except for the fact that she was in a giant wedding dress (which she proceeded to shimmy out of on the side of the road and change into her regular clothes. Did I mention I love Erin?)
Please enjoy the photos below, because Erin is GORGEOUS. I am so happy that she is happy and it was an honor to be one of her bridesmaids. I can't wait to see Kristen's photos from the big day!
Soooo moral of the story is that if you're a cool chick and you want some bridal portraits, you should totally holla at me. I'd love to hang out with you in your wedding dress on any day but your wedding. Let's make it a party!
*I am booked for the rest of November and will not be booking anything further until after the new year
